Who We Are:

GUTS Agro industry:  is a private limited company founded by two Ethiopian entrepreneurs, Ato Engida Legesse and Ato Yosef Amare with an initial capital of 11,000,000 Birr as a partnership business in November 26, 2006. Each comes from a food processing environment where he experienced managing his own organization, rapid growth, development of quality control, and building of a strong, client-centered team of company employees. GUTS is one of the few companies in Ethiopia which took the advantages of the new market opportunities created by the current drive of the World Food Program (WFP) towards encouraging the local CSB producers and local farmers through its  local procurement programs. GUTS Agro Industry Plc has become a registered supplier for WFP on October 2008, after qualifying the inspection by WFP as well as the South African Quality Control Company contracted by WFP, and WFP’s testing the factory’s samples to meet the international standards of WFP specifications. Under the knowledge-based and business-wise team of the shareholders together with 200 company employees, GUTS operation is producing 8500 metric tones of Corn Soya Blend(CSB) food products to the WFP orders and 57, 800,000 birr in sales by the end of May, 2010. This operation has benefited several local farmers from procurement of 100,000 quintals of raw materials purchased directly form the local farmers associations and indirectly via the new initiative of the “Ethiopia Commodity Exchange (ECX)". These figures are represented by only 14 months of operation and the results far exceed the industry standards for a start up enterprise similar to GUTS´size. The principals of GUTS Agro Industry Plc which earned them the award of “Best Investors of the Year" from the regional government of SNNPR in 2009. Currently, the company has developed two main lines of products. Its ‘snacks’ product line  ‘LEMBO®’ brand which has now become known in the local market for its uniqueness in its crunchy nature , sweet taste, and different flavors. The other product line is a high quality infant cereal ‚fortified by vitamins and minerals, for ages 6 months and above, and will be marketed under LIBDEL® brand. At present, the company is on the blink of penetrating the local market by launching this product in the coming few months.
